James Edward Schiwal was born March 6, 1959 in Dickinson, the son of William and Pauline (Schuld) Schiwal. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, through the catholic grade schools and then graduating from Dickinson High School in 1977. He then went on to graduate from NDSU in Fargo in 1982 with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Jim was employed 33 years at Cable One, and referred to as Uncle Jim by the crew. He loved the technical world and was able to keep it working. His family appreciated his skill with video equipment at weddings and reunions. His political opinions were guaranteed to liven up a family gathering.

All will miss his quiet ways and the sly twinkle in his eyes. Jim is survived by his parents, William and Pauline Schiwal, Belfield; nine siblings, Duane (Lela) Schiwal, Gerald Schiwal, Tom (Melody) Schiwal, Susan (Rex) Jacobsen, Russell (Elizabeth) Schiwal, Manette (Jesse) Obrigewitch, Carol (Scott) Somerville, Christine (Todd) Wieneke, and Paula (Rodney) Mongold; 25 nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; three uncles; two aunts; and a brother-in-law.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church.
