Jan Minciel, 89, Dickinson passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. Services for Jan will take place at the time of his burial in Poland at a later date. There will be a time of visitation with the family present to greet friends on Monday, January 26, 2009 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson.

Jan Minciel, son of Walerian Minciel and Anna Zdanowicz, was born on September 15, 1919 in Zaborze, Poland. He had six sisters, Maria, Alima, Ewa, Jadzia, Jania and Wanda, and two brothers, Jozek and Czeslaw.

Jan served in the military during World War II and became a prisoner of war in Germany where he met his wife Anna Semeniuk. Following the war, in 1947, he returned to Poland. In 1973 he and Anna immigrated to Dickinson, and while here he worked at Husky Industries and Trinity High School.

Jan is survived by Anna, his wife of 63 years; one son, Zbigniew Minciel, Chicago, Ill.; three daughters, Helena (Ryszard) Roznowska, Dickinson, Lucyna (Tom) Miner, Chicago, and Irena (Zbyszek) Waligora, Poland; seven grandchildren, Beata (Darek), Anna (Rafal), Robert, William, Alex, Michelle, and Olivia; and three great-grandchildren, Tomek, Helenka and Marysia. Jan will be greatly missed as a husband, father and grandfather.
