Jane Thompson, 62, Taylor, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. She brilliantly and bravely fought a courageous battle with cancer and did it with a smile. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Jane Hueske was born December 12, 1951 in Richardton to Arnold and Rose (Forster) Hueske. She grew up on the their farm north of Richardton, making mud pies for the guys in the field and chasing her cousins with worms (even though she was terrified of worms). She attended school in Richardton, where she enjoyed cheerleading and was a standout on the RHS track and field team.

On December 29, 1970, she married Edward Allen Thompson at St. Mary’s church in Richardton. After moving to several ND cities with Ed’s job, they decided to return to western ND and life on the farm. They were happily married until Ed’s death in 1998.

Jane enjoyed her work and co-workers, as well as her church home. She was a photographer, gardener, and an avid reader. She loved her seven grandchildren and the fun of showing them new adventures, discoveries, and silly songs. Jane was blessed with the “gift of gab” and made new friends easily. She was very proud of being a cancer warrior and quickly won the hearts of her doctors, nurses, and therapists. Jane was especially honored to be a speaker at the 2013 Relay for Life in Dickinson.

She had a true zest for life. She lived in the moment and spoke her mind. She will be deeply and lovingly missed by many.

Jane is survived by her mother, Rose Hueske; three daughters, Brenda (Perry) Rettinger, Connie (Grant) Buck, Dawn (Sam) Thompson; one brother, Ken (Kathy) Hueske; two sisters, Sharon Reinmiller, Darla (David) Megalli; seven grandchildren, Tyeisha, Terriana, Tyanna Thompson, who are her adopted daughters, Nick and Elli Rettinger, Denver and Haley Buck.

She was preceded in death by husband, Ed, her father, Arnold, and one brother, Bruce. Memorials may be made in Jane’s name to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life at; ACS Stark County Relay for Life, PO Box 1472, Dickinson, ND 58601.
