Jay Eugene Weigum,60, Belfield, died on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. There will be a Liturgy of Word Service for Jay at 11:30 a.m., Friday, March 25, 2022 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson.
Jay Eugene Weigum was born on October 3, 1961 in Modesto, CA, the son of Vernon and Cheryl (Rhoten) Weigum. He was raised and educated between California, Wyoming, Colorado and North Dakota. His early days were spent traveling, doing seismographing. Later on he worked on drilling rigs as a motorhand until his retirement in 2010 due to health issues. He made his home in Belfield with his two sons from a previous relationship.
Jay was united in marriage to Doretta Miller on December 27, 2004 in Dickinson. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering in the shop, visiting with friends, and watching westerns, especially John Wayne. Jay loved spending time with his grandkids. He was always one to teach someone something new and if you didn’t know…ask Jay!
Jay is survived by his wife, Doretta, Belfield; son, Jason Weigum, Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Angel and Jadin; and step-grandson, Remington. He was preceded in death by his son, Justin, on March 1, 2017; and his brother, Vernon Jr., on March 19, 1979; and his parents.
