Jennie Decker, 94, Dickinson, died Friday, October 21, 2016 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Jennie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Keith Streifel as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a vigil at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.
Genevieve Koffler was born November 9, 1921 in Dickinson, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Hatzenbuhler) Koffler. She grew up and attended country school near Lefor. On September 10, 1940 Jennie and Paul Decker were united in marriage. They farmed 10 miles southwest of Dickinson until moving in to Dickinson in 1960. Paul passed away October 24, 1967.
Jennie loved to cook especially for family and friends. She was always able to prepare a delicious meal for welcomed guests at any time a visitor would drop by. Jennie enjoyed volunteer work and spent many hours a week volunteering at the House of Manna where she made many lifelong friends. Jennie enjoyed bowling, playing cards especially pinochle with her friends, dancing and listening to waltz and polka music while watching The Lawrence Welk Show. She enjoyed her winter vacations in Arizona and especially enjoyed visiting the Casino’s.
Jennie was known for her spunky personality and developed many friends throughout her years. Her family was very important to her and she enjoyed spending time with them. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and St. Pius Verein.
Jennie is survived by her children, Ken (Marcy) Decker, Dickinson, Joyce ( Larry Lamb) Kingsbury, Mesa, Ariz. Gary (Marsha) Decker, Laguna Beach, Calif., and Linda (Erv) Hatzenbiler of Chandler, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren, Greg (Pam) Decker, Dickinson, Jeff (Carrie) Decker, Dickinson, Paul Decker, Park Rapids, Minn., Lindsey (Carl) Schafer, Dickinson, Robbie Schwartz, Fargo, Shawn (Sylvia) Hendrickson, Chandler, Ariz., Shannon (Jon) Huber, Bismarck, Stacy (Todd) Kubas, Dickinson, DayNa (Andrew) Maltin, Laguna Beach, Calif., Tanya (Collin) Kelly, San Tan Valley, Ariz., and Ryan (Lillie) Hatzenbiler, Mesa, Ariz.; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren; a brother George Koffler of New England; and numerous nieces and nephews.
