Jerome Jacob Greff, 75, Dickinson, died on Friday, August 16, 2024 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Jerome’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, August 23, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Military Honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Jerome Jacob Greff was born August 28, 1948 in Dickinson, the son of Joseph and Pauline (Hatzenbuhler) Greff. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, having graduated from Trinity High School Class of 1968. Following graduation, Jerome enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably from August 29, 1968 to April 3, 1970 with one year in Vietnam. He was very proud of serving in the Marine Corps and all who served.
Jerome married Sandy Ficek in 1972 and two daughters were born to this union, Kelly and Erin. In 1982, Jerome was united in marriage to Lanell Myran and one son, Jerrod, was born.
He worked for the City Refuse Department for four years and in 1982 he went on to work for the Stark County Road Crew until his retirement, following an almost 40 year career.
Jerome enjoyed hunting with Jerrod, fishing, camping, cutting grass, having coffee with Ron, and for over 30 years—Thursday supper with Claud and Ann.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Lanell; children, Kelly (Dennis) Urban, Erin (Buck) McMahen, and Jerrod; grandchildren, Jacob McMahen, Reagan McMahen, and Jayda Greff; brothers, Ron Greff, Dickinson, and Don (Brenda) Greff, Bismarck; sister, Jean Akers, Barney; brothers-in-law, John Grinsteinner, Nebraska, and Francis Kolling, Dickinson; numerous nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bev Grinsteinner, and Alice Kolling; grandparents, Jerome Greff, Jacob and Theresa Hutzenbuhler; and brother-in-law, Larry Akers.
