Jerry Heidt, 71, Moxee, Wash., died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at the Yakima Regional Hospital, Yakima, Wash. Jerry’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 8, 2017 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as celebrant. Inurnment will take place at St. Patrick’s Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m.

Jerome “Jerry” Heidt was born November 12, 1945, son of Jerome “Harry” and Elizabeth (Kuntz) Heidt. He was raised and educated in Dickinson. He was united in marriage to Joan Kubas on September 11, 1965 in Dickinson.

Jerry worked for Decker Dairy, Badinger Sand and Gravel and Stark County Ready Mix. He was drafted in the Army in 1965 and served one year in Vietnam. In 1973, Jerry and Joan moved to Laurel, Mont. where he worked at the Burlington Northern Rail Welding Plant. In 1973, Jerry started Heidt Trucking Company. In 1995, he moved his trucking to Yakima, Wash. residing in Moxee, Wash.

He belonged to the Owner Operators Association and the American Legion 0123 Laurel Montana for 45 years. He enjoyed restoring cars, drag racing, having coffee with fellow truckers, car magazines and had a passion for semis and loved what he did.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Janelle Marie Dragoo, Yakima; granddaughter, Catty Heidt; siblings, Shirley (David) Smith, Canyon Lake, Texas, David (fiancé, Cindy Dvorak) Heidt, Dickinson, Elaine Novotny, Dickinson, Alvina (Ron) Herauf, Billings, Mont., Jackie (Ron) Schlinger, Mandan, Melvin Heidt, Dickinson and Dennis Heidt, Billings, Mont.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Betty Heidt; in-laws, Wayne Stroh, Diana Heidt, Earl Novotny; and Little Matthew.
