Joan L. Jurgens, 56, Belfield, was given her wings and joined the Lord on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Sanford Health in Bismarck with family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Joan’s Funeral Service will be 10 a.m., Monday October 23, 2017 at Belfield Lutheran Church in Belfield with Rev. Roger Dieterle officiating. Interment will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. MT in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Joan was born December 10, 1960 in Beach, daughter of Robert and Hilda (Granat) Helsper. She graduated from Beach High School in 1979. Joan married Jamey Adams on October 19, 1979 and from this union three children were born.

Joan married Dave Jurgens on May 29, 1993. She worked as the Treasurer/Auditor in Billings County for 28 years, retiring in 2013. She had a green thumb and enjoyed spending her time in her garden and flower beds. Joan was a strong believer in natural healing and promoted that belief through her Young Living business, Inner Moments, LLC.  She had a passion for helping others and always put their needs before her own, even at her weakest times she was still reaching out to comfort others.  Joan’s pride and joy were her children and grandchildren, she cherished her time spent with them.

Joan is survived by her loving husband of almost 25 years, Dave; three children, Jessie (Tom) Bren, Dickinson, Jerri (Kole) James, Alexander, and Jaden (Anita) Adams, Medora; two step-children, Michael (Brandy) Jurgens, Bismarck and Lisa (Justin) Herberholz, Bismarck; her beloved grandbabies; Breezy, Cedar and Pepper Bren, Kayson, Axyl and Jerzi James, Jase and Onyx Adams, Brynley and Eden Herberholz; brothers, Tom (Kim) Helsper, Madison, Ala. and Mike Helsper, Beach; brothers-in-law, Jim (Jean) Jurgens, Grand Rapids, Mich., and Binky Miller, Belfield; sisters-in-law, Karen (Jeff) Boshart, Brown Deer, Wisc., and Peggy Jurgens, Dickinson and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert and Hilda Helsper; sister, Lorraine DeTenancour; brother-in-law, Clarence DeTenancour; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Elmer and Martha Jurgens; sister-in-law, Janice Miller; and brother-in-law, Ken Jurgens.
