JoAnn Egly, 72, formerly of Belfield, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Missouri Slope Lutheran Care Center, Bismarck. A memorial service for JoAnn will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Belfield Lutheran Church, Belfield, with Rev. Roger Dieterle officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
JoAnn Andreas was born March 18, 1941 in Belfield, the daughter of Nick and Katherine (Rychkun) Andreas. She was raised and educated in the Belfield, Fryburg and Driscoll areas. Following her marriage to Ronald Egly on March 26, 1960, they farmed and ranched at Anamoose until 1973, when they came back to the Belfield area where they lived until 1997, when they moved to Dickinson. Ronald died on June 27, 2000, and JoAnn remained in Dickinson until moving to Bismarck in November 2011.
She enjoyed raising unusual plants, gardening, different types of needle work, painting, Ukrainian egg dyeing, photography, classical and 50’s rock-n-roll music, and chasing lightening.
JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Tim) Hecker, New England, and Lori (Steve) Durben, Columbia, Mo.; two grandchildren, Ashley Hecker, and Allen Hecker; one brother, George (Rose Marie) Andreas, Belfield; and two sisters, Olga (Albert) Schumaker, Bismarck, and Genevieve (Art) Meduna, Belfield. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron; parents; one brother-in-law, Albert; two nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to a children’s charity or to Hospice.
