JoAnne Marie Kostelecky, 88, Dickinson, died Saturday, September 17, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. JoAnne’s Celebration of Life Service will be at 10 a.m., Sunday October 2, 2022 at Invitation Hill Seventh Day Adventist Church, Dickinson.
JoAnne Marie Kostelecky was born on November 25, 1933 in Wibaux, Mont., the daughter of Vern Edward and Ina Mary (Blue) Osterloth. She was raised and educated in Wibaux, having graduated from Wibaux High School. She went on to attend St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Dickinson where she received her LPN License.
While attending a dance in Dickinson, JoAnne met Valentine Kostelecky, and the two were married on September 18, 1958. They purchased a farm north of New Hradec. A couple of years later they moved to a farm 25 miles south of Elgin where they farmed and raised their family.
She began nursing in 1963 in Lemmon, SD, working until a heart attack in 2004. At this time she made a move to Dickinson to be closer to her son Kenneth.
JoAnne like doing puzzles and watching old movies. She was very involved and sensitive to her children’s and grandchildren’s wants and needs!! She truly enjoyed the visits from her grandchildren. She stayed in touch with the people of the Care Center in Lemmon and always had a prayer for them.
JoAnne is survived by her sons, Kenneth Kostelecky, Dickinson, Ronald Kostelecky, Omaha, Neb. and Michael Kostelecky, Decatur, Ill.; grandchildren, Patricia (Jason) Locker, Gary Kostelecky, Kyle Kostelecky, Blaine Kostelecky, McKenzie Kostelecky, CaSaundra Kostelecky, Flor Lozano, Melanie Anne Kostelecky, and numerous other grandchildren; siblings, Harold (Mary Branscombe) Osterloth, David (Elizabeth) Osterloth, and Richard Osterloth; and sister-in-law, Sonja “Toni” Osterloth.
She was preceded in death by her son, Maynard Allen Kostelecky; parents; daughter-in-law, Nancy Kostelecky; siblings, Dorothy (Warren) Parker, Nancy (Irvine) Jendro, Verna (Albert) Tosner, Roberta (Dayton) Osterloth, Eunice Osterloth, William Kostelecky and James Osterloth.
