John A. Wolff, 86, Dickinson died Tuesday November 1, 2016 at the Evergreen, Dickinson. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday November 4, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant and assisted by Deacon Ron Keller. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with Deacon Jerry Volk presiding. Military honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Rosary and Vigil will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

John A. Wolff was born in Mott on July 10, 1930 to Anton and Elizabeth (Barth) Wolff. John married Lillian C. Barta June 4, 1956, Dickinson. He worked in retail through his life spending 20 years at JC Penny’s in Dickinson. John found great strength and hope in his Catholic faith. He was a faithful parishioner and usher at St. Patrick’s Church in Dickinson. He loved to fish with family and friends.

John is survived by four children, Diane (Alex) Wolff-Thomas, Gloucester, Ma., Harriet (Doug) Worden, Coon Rapids, Minn., Bruce (Therese Rasmussen) Wolff, Denver, Colo., and Patti Wolff, Fargo. He was a proud grandfather of John Worden, Andover, Minn., and Emma and Isaiah Thomas of Gloucester, Ma. John was a dedicated brother and friend. He is also survived by his brother William (Jean) Wolff, Bismarck; and sisters-in-law, Blanche Hammling, Bismarck and Lavonne Wolff, Dickinson. He also has numerous nieces and nephews who he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his fishing buddies Ludwig Barta, Frank Wolff, Bob Ficek and Eugene Hammling. Also preceding him in death were his wife Lillian; son Tim; infant son John; his mother Elizabeth Frenzel; father Anton Wolff; brothers Frank and Otto Wolff; sisters-in-law, Marge Wolff, Martha Barta, and Carol Wolff.
