John Mischel, 91, Dickinson, ND, formerly of Richardton, died Friday, February 29, 2008 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Boniface Muggli, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

John was born April 24, 1916 at Richardton, ND, the son of Joseph and Emilia (Loran) Mischel. He was raised in the Richardton area while helping on the family farm.

John married Stella Schlosser on June 6, 1939 at Mott, ND. Together they farmed in the Richardton area until retirement in 1983, at which time they moved into Richardton. In 2002 John and Stella moved to the Evergreen Inn in Dickinson and in March of 2006 John became a resident of St. Benedict’s Health Center.

John loved to farm, but when time allowed he enjoyed fishing, playing cards and going dancing.

John is survived by his wife, Stella; their two daughters, Darlene Couse of California and Linda (John) Zimmerman of Arizona; one sister, Bernice Winters, Oregon; one brother, Leo (Jeanette) Mischel, Dickinson; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.
