John P. Roller, 93, Dickinson, formerly of Belfield, died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson, surrounded by his family. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with a rosary & vigil on Tuesday at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

John was born on December 27, 1921 in Dickinson, he was the son of Clement and Mary (Cinder) Roller. As a young boy in 1929, the family moved to the farm seven miles south of Belfield.

On May 5, 1953 John married Catherine Huschka at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. John lived in Glasgow, Mont., Williston, and Forsyth, Mont., and worked at various jobs. In 1956 John moved to Worland, Wyo. until 1958. From 1958 to 1961 John worked for the city of Belfield. From 1961 until 1978 John farmed seven miles southeast of Belfield. In 1978 John sold the farm and moved to Belfield.

John had a very deep devotion to the Catholic faith and it showed in his many hours he spent in church participating in adoration. John enjoyed making wooden toys for the grandchildren, playing cards, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.

John is survived by his wife Catherine of 62 years; his 12 children, John (Sue) Roller, Dickinson, Geraldine (Dave) Hanel, Simpsonville, S.C., Marvin Roller, Fargo, Kurt (Carolyn) Roller, Superior, Wisc., Pam (Mark) Vervalen, Grand Forks, Tom (Debbie) Roller, Dickinson, Deb (Leon) Custer, Belfield, Roxann (Duane) Goetz, Gillette, Wyo., Char (Joe) Havelka, Gillette, Wyo., Cheryl (Roy) Krivoruchka, Belfield, Bonnie Custer, Bismarck, and Kevin (Mindy) Roller, Rothsay, Minn.; one sister Martha Schiwal; 28 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Louie; sisters Veronica Roller, Emma Dolajak and Rose Wilhelm; and son-in-law Lonny Custer.
