John Schabert 60, Dickinson, ND, died Monday, October 8, 2007 at MedCenter One, Bismarck, ND. John’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2007 at the United Methodist Church, Dickinson with Rev. Scott McKirdy officiating. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be no visitation at the church on Friday.

John Schabert was born October 21, 1946 in Grand Forks, ND, the son of John and Blanche (Hebert) Schabert. He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from St. James High School and Mayville State College. John married Janice Letvin on December 21, 1967 in Dickinson

John taught sixth grade in Dunseith, ND, and the Bismarck Public School System prior to beginning his career in the implement business in 1974. He owned Letvin Farm Equipment until his retirement in 2006. He served as President of the North Dakota Implement Dealers Association in 2005. He was active in the Farm Safety for Kids program and was the recipient of the Friend of 4-H award. In 1999 he received the Agri-businessman of the Year from the Dickinson Area Chamber of Commerce.

John is survived by his wife, Janice; their two daughters, Carol (Dan) Weber, Casselton, ND, and Jill (Steve) Hobbs, Grand Forks; three granddaughters, Kayla & Erika Weber and Jade Hobbs; two sisters, Dolores (Al) Derouin, Delavan, WI, and Madelin Johnson, Grand Forks; and many nieces and nephews.
