John W. Dutchuk,81, of Beulah, formerly of Dickinson, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 18, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. MDT, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fairfield. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m MDT. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil at 6 p.m. MDT with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday.
John was born on September 7, 1944, in Dickinson, the son of William and Ann (Kanski) Dutchuk. He spent his early years near Snow, where he attended Indian Springs School. The family later moved to Dickinson, where John attended Dickinson Public Schools and graduated in 1962.
On September 26, 1964, John married the love of his life, Kay Birch, at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Fairfield. Together, they shared a beautiful life built on love, laughter, and hard work.
As a teenager, John spent time custom combining before beginning his career at Dinsdale Texaco. He later proudly owned and operated John’s Texaco, and went on to work for Dvorak Motors before completing his 43-year career at Parkway Ford, where he made many lifelong friendships.
John had a deep love for the outdoors-he especially enjoyed lake life, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the family cabin. He was an avid fan of high school sports and took great pride in watching his grandchildren participate in their many activities.
After retiring, John and Kay spent their winters in Arizona, where they continued to enjoy the sunshine, friendships, and relaxation together.
John will be remembered for his kindness, steady work ethic, and devotion to his family and friends.
John is survived by his loving wife, Kay; children, Kevin (Kim) Dutchuk, of Prescott, AZ, Kim (Ed) Shea of Fergus Falls, MN, Todd (Kristi) Dutchuk of Casselton, and Kurt (Sandra) Dutchuk of Beulah; grandchildren, Kayla (Brock) Baldwin, Kelsey (Ben) Brause, Dustin Dutchuk, BreeAnn Dutchuk, BoDee (Angel) Blake, Jacob Dutchuk, Isabelle Dutchuk, Dawson (McKenzie) Dutchuk, and Madalyn Dutchuk; and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He is also survived by his brother, Victor (Karin) Dutchuk of Altoona, IA; sister, Deb (Todd) Schweitzer of Dickinson; sister-in-law, Terri Dutchuk of Beulah; brother-in-law, Larry Birch of Culbertson, MT; uncle, Steve Kanski of Bloomington, IL; and several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ann Dutchuk; in-laws, Don and Bea Birch; brother, Larry Dutchuk; brother-in-law, Lee (Peggy) Birch; and grandson, Dalton John Dutchuk.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
