Johnnie Rae Geving March 26, 1974 - February 11, 2014

Date of Funeral

Saturday, February 15, 2014

Johnnie Rae Geving, 39, Dunn Center, died Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Sanford Healthcare, Bismarck as a result of complications of metastatic Melanoma. Her greatest wish while battling this disease was to find a cure not only for herself but everyone who was fighting it as well.

Johnnie Rae Dukart was born on March 26, 1974 to Daryl and Reyne (Dinkins) Dukart. She graduated from Killdeer High School in 1993. After graduating from high school and having her first born, Lynn Taylor, she moved to Dickinson and met her best friend Chris Geving. Chris and Johnnie Rae were united in marriage on November 10, 1995 at Normanna Lutheran Church, Dunn Center. To complete their family, in 2010 their second daughter, Samantha Lee joined their family. Chris and Johnnie Rae lived in Killdeer, Dickinson, and Bismarck before moving back “home” to Dunn Center.

Johnnie Rae enjoyed being an employee for the City of Killdeer, a waitress, a child care provider, a home health care provider and most recently, an Administrative Assistant for the Dunn County Extension office. Her two favorite jobs were being a stay-at-home mom and a cheerleading coach. While being a stay-at-home mom she was always willing to help drive and take care of her mom and grandparents. While in high school, she was active in 4-H, Future Homemakers of America, cheerleading, and music. The last several years she was active as a Dunn Center City Council member, a Dunn County Park Board member, and a 4-H leader.

Johnnie Rae took pleasure in music, dancing (her favorite dance partner was her dad), flower arranging, gardening, animals, ordering Tupperware, shopping, going to hair appointments, socializing, and being bossy. She found joy in spoiling all the kids in her life especially her nephews and nieces Colby Jonathan, Colten Lee, Jayne Belle, Mariska (Sugar) Marie, and Kyler Jay. She was honored to be the Godmother to four amazing young women; Jamie Reyne Bauer, Jayne Belle Krank, GracieLee Ziemann, and Sugar Marie Krank. Johnnie Rae’s smile and laugh snort will be in our memories forever. She was very proud of Sam and Lynn. Her eyes glistened each time she talked about them.

Johnnie Rae is survived by her husband Christopher L. Geving, Dunn Center, her parents Daryl and Reyne (Dinkins) Dukart, Dunn Center, daughters Samantha (Cameron) DePeralta, Killdeer, and Lynn Geving, Dunn Center, her siblings, Cody (Jennifer) Dukart, Dunn Center, and Heidi (Jay) Krank, Taylor. She is also survived by her grandparents, in-laws, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and her best friend Nala (her toy poodle).

Johnnie Rae was proceeded in death by her great grandparents and uncles Corey Eisenbraun and Kim Dinkins.

The family is asking memorials be made in Johnnie Rae’s honor to the Dunn County 4-H youth program and the Killdeer Booster Club Cheerleading Program. “Love you to the moon and back”
