Joseph A. Kytoichuk, 93, Belfield, died Monday, January 14, 2013 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Joseph’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Father William Ruelle officiating. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Visitation will from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Wednesday at the church and will continue one hour prior to service time Thursday. There will be a vigil and rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

Joseph A. Kytoichuk was born October 30, 1919 in Belfield, the son of Joe and Polly (Czop) Kytoichuk. He was raised and educated in Belfield where he has spent most all of his life. Joseph joined the United States Army and served honorably from March 20, 1942 to November 10, 1945, with the Combat Engineers in the South Pacific and Aleutian Isles.

He returned to Belfield where he worked as a meat cutter for over 40 years in small grocery stores in Belfield and Montana, with 33 years as a meat cutter at Franklin’s Fairway Foods.

Joseph was a member of the Belfield American Legion, and also different archery clubs for over 50 years. He enjoyed looking for arrowheads in the Badlands, and playing cards during his off time.

Joseph is survived by his brother, Casimer C. Kytoichuk, Dickinson; his sister, Pauline Dorval, Dickinson; and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father in 1945, his mother in 1946, one brother, Peter and two sisters, Ann Tessier and Bergeda Kytoichuk.
