Joseph Heidecker, 90, Dickinson, died Saturday, September 23, 2017 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Wednesday with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.

Joseph J. Heidecker was born on a farm east of Lefor in Stark County on January 13, 1927, son of William F. and Anna (Hagel) Heidecker. He attended country school through the eighth grade.

Joseph was united in marriage to Lorraine Scheeler on October 19, 1948 at the Church of St. Phillip in Dunn County. He worked on the family farm, and the Garrison Diversion Project. They made their home in Dickinson where he drove truck for Braun’s Distributing and worked for the City of Dickinson as the Superintendent of the Street Department for 35 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the St. Anthony Club, German Hungarian Club, KC Club and the Eagles. He served as president and past president for many years at the Eagles.

He loved the outdoors, including his yard, garden and camping with friends and family.

Joseph is surived by his wife of 68 years, Lorraine; three children, Vonne (Henry) Carrillo, Prescott Valley, Ariz., Elaine “Pickles” Lindemann, Dickinson, and Joseph S. (Deb) Heidecker, Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Dion Carrillo, Glendale, Ariz., Sasha Carrillo, Mesa, Ariz., Joshua (Annie) Carrillo, Huntington Beach, Calif., and Heather Davis, Colorado Springs; five great-grandchildren, Timothy Carrillo, Lexoni Carrillo, Noah Carrillo, Dakota Hodgin, and Ryder Davis; sisters, Dorothy Barnes, Fort Wayne, Ind., Mildred Twingley, Helena, Mont., Delores (Dennis) Kaye, Columbus, Ohio; and brother, Don (Pauline) Heidecker, Mansfield, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Anna; sister, Jackie Yarborough, brothers-in-law, Harland Twingley and Gaylord Barnes; and sister-in-law, Kay Heidecker.
