Joseph Heinzman, 89, Portland, Ore., died Friday, July 20, 2018 at Portland, Oregon. A Graveside Service will be held at 3 p.m. CDT, Friday, August 31, 2018 at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Joseph Heinzman was born March 25, 1929 in Mott, son of Jacob and Mary (Roll) Heinzman, from Burt. He grew up in a family of 19. Joe served honorably in the United States Navy for six terms from January 17, 1948 to September 11, 1956. He was stationed at Norfolk, Va.. and then his last duty station was Kosma where his was aboard the USS Everglades. He received an Honorable Discharge as an SH3.
Joe is survived by one son, James (Debra); three daughters, Joanna (Larry) Smith, Leanona (Fred) Suckup, and Sandy (Dewight) Carlson; three step-children; 15 grandkids; 27 great-grandkids; two sisters, Maggie Hewson, Regent, and Francis May, Portland.
