Joseph M. “Joe” Baumann, 86, Dickinson, died Thursday, December 24, 2015 at his home with his family at his side. Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Shannon Lucht as the celebrant, and Fr. David Morman as the con-celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Monday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue at the church on Tuesday one hour prior to services. There will be a rosary & Vigil at 7 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Joseph Michael Baumann was born December 8, 1929 at Chicago, Ill., the son of Andrew and Katharina (Matrasota) Baumann. He was raised and educated in Chicago. On November 24, 1951 he was united in marriage to Betty Stein at Chicago.

They moved to North Dakota in 1955 and purchased a farm northwest of New Hradec. Joe farmed and did mechanic work until 1984, but continued to work on projects in his shop. He and Betty moved to Dickinson in 2014.

Joe belonged to the Eagle’s Club, the Elks, St. Anthony, Knights of Columbus, and the Dickinson Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, welding, fabricating, and traveling.

Joe is survived by his wife, Betty; their three children, Mike (Cindy) Baumann, Dickinson, Bob (Jan) Baumann, Bismarck, and Linda (Kevin) Weiler, Dickinson; grandchildren, Krista (Erik) Sunderland, Emily (Pete) Cumings, Andrew (Alicia) Baumann, Sarah Weiler, and step grandson John (Jessica) Hoff; great-grandchildren: Braeden Baumann, Fiona Cumings, and step great-grandchild Josephine Hoff; and one brother, Andrew P. Baumann, Vernon Hills, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother in-law; and his sister, Loraine Oster.
