Joseph W. “Joe” Fuentes, Jr., 53, Dickinson, ND, died Friday, May 30, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Joe’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Dennis Schafer as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service. There will be a vigil at 7 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Joseph W. Fuentes, Jr., was born July 2, 1954 in Duluth, Minn., the son of Joe and Patricia (Endicott) Fuentes, Sr.. He was raised and educated in Barnsville, Minn., and following graduation he joined the United States Navy where he served honorably until his discharge.

Joe was living and working in Fargo where he met his future wife who was also working for the same company. Joe and Patricia Schmidt were married on December 14, 1976 in Moorhead, Minn.. They moved to Dickinson in 1979 and for several years he would deliver bulk mail between Dickinson and Bowman. For the past 17 years Joe has been at BJ Services and most recently as their Office Supervisor.

Joe was a passionate man that loved to work hard and to play hard. He belonged to the API and the St. Anthony Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and had been getting back into bow hunting. Camping, trips to Las Vegas, Nev., golfing and especially spending time with family and friends brought him great enjoyment. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan.

Joe is survived by his wife, Patty; their five children, Jesse (Amanda) Fuentes, Anchorage, Alaska, Cody Fuentes-Church, Minot, Haley Fuentes, Dickinson, Wendy Fuentes, Dickinson, and Carly Fuentes, Dickinson; eight grandchildren, Donte, Ivy, RJ, Dace, Dominic, Elijah, Sean and Gracie; his mother, Patricia Fuentes, Wolverton, Minn.; four sisters, Robyn, Glenda, Susan and Patti Jo; and one brother, Jeff. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to the API Scholarship Fund.
