Josephine Huncovsky, 88, life long resident of Dickinson, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at St. Benedicts Health Center, Dickinson. Josephine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 14, 2013 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Kregg Hochhalter celebrating. Inurnment will take place in the spring. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary at 7 p.m.
Josephine Deffert was born November 11, 1924 to Sebastian and Barbara (Morgenthaler) Deffert at Dickinson. Josephine attended St. Patrick’s Grade School and graduated from Dickinson High School. She married Donald Huncovsky on February 14, 1943. Josephine worked at several different jobs, such as, TrimLine, Woolworth’s, and Husky Café. She was also on the election board and census bureau.
Josephine enjoyed working crossword puzzles, playing cards, gardening, feeding birds, and Sunday car rides through the Medora area. However, her most enjoyable past time was spending time with her family.
Josephine is survived by six children, Donna (Bob) Yauger, Portland, Ore., David (Camey), Dickinson, Norma Tescher, Dickinson, Peggy (Ken) Mosbrucker, Dickinson, Terry, Dickinson, and Carol (Terry) Oster, Oakes; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, two sons, Arlan and Maury, one son-in-law, Tim Tescher, two grandsons, Todd Mosbrucker and DJ Huncovsky, one sister and her husband, Dorothy and Vern Ruch, nine half sisters, one half brother, one infant sister, and one infant half sister.
