Josephine Klym, 96, Dickinson, died Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Josie’s Parastas will be at 1 p.m., Monday, January 13, 2014 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Fr. Taras Miles presiding. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fairfield. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and on Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service. There will be a rosary & Panakyda at 2 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Leonard Kordonowy presiding.
Josephine Gawryluk was born December 25, 1916 at on the family farm near Gorham, the daughter of Wasyl and Mary (Marchuk) Gawryluk. She was raised and educated in the Gorham area.
Josie married Michael Klym on October 15, 1936 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, and from this union four children were born, James, Doris, Janet and Betty. She was a hard working, caring lady. She helped her husband on the farm and cooked for the crew when they were in the custom harvesting business.
She was proud of her home, which Mike built for her. Josie helped care for her grandchildren while their parents worked. She loved cooking the traditional Ukrainian dishes. Quests were welcomed with either a big meal or coffee and cookies. Josie lived her life with dignity and grace.
She was a member of St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield. Her family meant everything to her, she was the happiest when they were all around her table.
Josie is survived by two children, James (Mary) Klym, Dickinson, and Betty (Don) Kern, White Hall, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Bob (Sylvia) Larson, Pam (Scott) Kolling, Lorrie (Steven) Day, Alan (Judy) Larson, Terry Klym, Dale Kern, Cindy (Dale) Hubbart, and Sandy Gawlik; six step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and three step-siblings, Sophia Anton, Great Falls, Mont., Raymond Gawryluk, Omaha, Neb., and Betty Brown, Deer River, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike on December 13, 2004; two daughters, Doris (Gordon) Larson, and Janet Klym; her parents; step-mother, Mary Anheluk-Gawryluk; 16 siblings and step-siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Ukrainian Cultural Institute, St. Demetrius Ukrainian Church, or to a charity of the donors choice.
