Joyce Myran, 91, formerly of Taylor, died Monday, August 27, 2012 at MedCenter One, Bismarck. Joyce’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Taylor Lutheran Church, Taylor, with Rev. Bob Wittstruck officiating. Interment will take place at the Ridgeway Cemetery north of Taylor. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to services a the church.

Joyce Merz was born January 3, 1921 in Marmarth, the third child of Leo A. and Grace (Bacon) Merz. She went to Crawford Country School and graduated from Marmarth High School. She went on to attend Dickinson State Teachers College, where she received a teachers certificate. Joyce moved to Bremerton, Wash. and worked in the shipyards during the war as an Industrial Artist. She had also taught in several country schools when she was younger.

Joyce married Gordon Myran on December 23, 1944 in Glendive, Mont. After several temporary homes they ranched north of Tappen until 1957. They then moved north of Taylor to Gordon’s grandparent’s homestead where she lived until moving to Halliday with her daughter in 2005. She then became a resident of the Evergreen in Dickinson in 2008.

Joyce is survived by three children, Louise (Stan) Pollestad, Halliday, Lanell (Jerry) Greff, Dickinson, and Milton (Beverly) Myran, Gladstone; five grandsons; six great-grandchildren; one brother, Howard Merz, Rhame; and one sister, Grace Privratsky, Bemidji, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon on September 29, 2005; her parents; and one sister, Helen Paulson.
