Juliann was born on June 23, 1938, to Joseph G and Anna E. (Reisinger) Kolling and was eldest daughter of 16. Juliann was born in Mott at a nursing home and grew up on the farm by Mott while spending winters in Gladstone before moving to Dickinson where she graduated from Dickinson High School. She was a member of the Dickinson City Band and worked at St Joseph Hospital at a young age fondly remembers the patients. Juliann married Frank Hatzenbuhler on June 9, 1958 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dickinson and to the union they had 10 children.  Juliann was a stay home mom until the youngest started school and then went to work at Dickinson State University. Where she worked as an environmental engineer (custodian) for nearly 50 years. Juliann loved working at the university making lifelong friends and many memories.

She always had a special relationship with her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and great-great grandkid. Over the years Juliann became like a second mom to several of her kid’s friends and in-laws and treated them as such.

Juliann liked to sit and observe people and was not afraid to strike up a conversation with a stranger to get to know them. She was the confidant, peacemaker and friend even though she could wake up the neighbors a mile away when she called the kids in from outside.

Juliann had a love of music, played Clarinet, talked about marching in parades. Loved to listen to classical music but what she enjoyed most was opera.

Juliann is survived by daughters, Theresa (William) Sanchez, Anna Hatzenbuhler, Charlotte Holverson, Paulette (Clay) Johnson, and Rayne (Todd) Anderson; sons, Frank Hatzenbuhler, Jr., Joseph (Danielle) Hatzenbuhler, and Mark (Myra) Hatzenbuhler; along with 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
