No words can describe the loss we have suffered with the sudden death of Karen Thielen. God’s Word states that will never give you more grief than you can handle. Those words are true but with the loss of my dear brother Allan several weeks earlier I can only rely on my faith and family.

Karen was born February 18, 1955 to Valentine and Pauline Berger. With five boys in their family and Karen the only girl you can guess who was Daddy’s favorite. She and I were blessed with Heather, Dustin, Timothy, Mitchel, and Miranda as are greatest joys until grandchildren arrived. She was loved by all that knew her, but I soon became aware that I was second fiddle compared to our grandchildren.

We moved to Oregon in 1987, but as the saying goes “you can take the girl out of North Dakota but you can’t take North Dakota out of the girl”. She married me, Ron Thielen, on January 21, 1983 and we had the marriage made in Heaven for over 40 years. She enjoyed rock hounding, quilting and just being with the ones she loved. She never missed a year traveling back to Dickinson when we lived in Oregon to be with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Valentine; brothers, Paul and Timothy. Her hardest loss was our son, Dustin. She also lost her dear sister-in-law, Diana Thielen Allert and brother-in-law, Allan Thielen.

Karen is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Heather (Travis) Brazelton, Timothy, Mitchel (Catherine), and Miranda (David) Adams; grandchildren, Christopher Brazelton, Catera (Jacob) Shepard, Sawyer and Madelyn Adams and Ava, Carver, Creighton Thielen; mother, Pauline Berger, Twin Falls, ID; siblings, Carl (Ann) Berger, Twin Falls, Howard Berger, Twin Falls, and Randy  (Gale) Berger, Dickinson.
