Karen was born October 24, 1957, at Abilene, Texas, the daughter of Richard and Verlene (Lee) Bennett. She was raised in Kermit, Texas for a time, and with her father working for the National Park Service, they moved to various parks. First they moved to Big Bend National Park, then to Devils Tower before settling in Medora at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.

She met her husband Keith Wolf, in 1977, and they were married on June 20, 1979 at St. Thomas Catholic Church. They welcomed their daughter, Kassidy (three months early) in 1983. Showing their true love for one another with Kassidy’s early entrance into the world, they made their home on the family farm south of Gladstone. Karen started her career with BLM in 1980 and retired in 2012.

One of her greatest joys came in 2008, with the birth of her granddaughter, Shyla. She enjoyed watching shows and playing with Shyla and the family dog, Bandit.

Karen is survived by her husband, Keith; her daughter, Kassidy (James) Fields, Dickinson; granddaughter, Shyla Fields; brother, Rick (Gayle) Bennett, Lena, Miss.; brothers-in-law, John (Judy) Wolf, Rapid City, S.D., Jim (Sherry) Wolf, Taylor, and Jerry (Marlys) Wolf, Gladstone; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Anita Sue; infant son, Lucas; and infant granddaughter, Katherine Annabelle Fields.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson.
