Katherine Erdle, 86, Dickinson, died October 21, 2009 at the St. Luke’s Home, Dickinson. Katherine’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2009 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Jim Braaten as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.

Katherine Fleckenstein was born October 10, 1923 at Dodge, the daughter of Max and Kardella (Nagel) Fleckenstein. She graduated from Big Flat Grade School and after the family moved to Richardton in 1944, she graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1948.

Katie moved to Bismarck where she worked at the Prince Hotel until her marriage to Otto Erdle on December 5, 1949. She and Otto lived in Richardton where they raised their family. Katie worked at the Abbey for several years and then she and the children moved to Dickinson in 1971. While in Dickinson she worked for the Ray Hotel, St. Benedict’s Health Center, and the Ramada Inn, retiring in 1985.

Katie enjoyed her grandchildren and cherished their time together. She liked working on puzzles and stained glass window painting, and when it allowed she loved to travel.

Katie is survived by her five children, Floyd (Marina) Erdle, Germany, Linda (Terry Wehner) Beitelspacher, Dickinson, Barb (Gary) Keller, Dickinson, Jeanette Ridl, Denver, Colo., and Blanche (Jim) Heidt, Dickinson; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Theresa Fleckenstein, St. Paul, Minn., and Frances Fleckenstein, Bismarck. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, five brothers, an infant son, Julian, and two grandchildren, Brian Heidt and Tracy Erdle.
