Katherine L. “Kathy” Buckman, 53, Dickinson, died at her home on Friday, May 24, 2013 following a lengthy illness. Kathy’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Michael Wolters officiating. Interment will take place at the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Katherine L. Buckman was born May 31, 1959 in Fargo, the daughter of Clarence and Irene (Schoenbeck) Buckman. She was raised and educated in Belfield, having graduated from Belfield High School in 1977 as an Honor Student.

Kathy worked several different jobs prior to beginning her college education. She attended Dickinson State University before enrolling at Moorhead State University, Moorhead, Minn., where she earned a BS Degree in Business Administration in 1997. Kathy went to work in Grand Forks for a short time until failing health forced her to return back to Belfield. She remained in Belfield until four years ago when she made Dickinson her home.

While in Belfield she worked as a server at the Belfield Senior Center, and also played organ part time at Sts. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Belfield. She enjoyed playing cards, knitting, needle point, and working in the garden.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Irene Buckman, Dickinson; brother, Robert Buckman, Mesa, Ariz.; three aunts, Bonnie Buckman, Belfield, Betty Schoenbeck, Belfield, and Mae (Jim) Muckle, Beach; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her dad, Clarence in 1975.
