Katherine Rodakowski, 81, Bismarck, ND, formerly of the Fairfield, ND area, died Friday, April 13, 2007. Katherine’s Funeral Parastas will be at 10 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2007 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Taras Miles officiating. Interment will follow at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Gorham, ND. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday at the church. There will be a rosary at the church at 7 p.m., Sunday.

Katherine Krivoruchka was born February 26, 1926 near Ukrania, ND, the daughter of Joe and Lena (Demaniow) Krivoruchka. She was raised and educated north of Belfield and had attended Belfield High School.

In Katherine’s words “Joe and I met in Belfield during high school years at Hughlen’s Bowling Alley over a bottle of spiked coke, a popular drink at the time. Except, neither one got a strike.” Katherine and Joe Rodakowski were married on June 8, 1943 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ukrania. They farmed and ranched together north of Belfield, remaining on the farm until moving to Bismarck in 2000. Joe died on October 19, 2002.

Katherine cared for her family, she enjoyed gardening, raising baby chicks and milking. She also enjoyed cooking, fishing, riding horse, playing bingo and a little bit of gambling. Katherine’s love for her church and Ukrainian culture were important to her. Katherine especially cherished her time spent with her family.

She belonged to the Catholic Daughters, was involved in 4-H activities, and the local community club.

Katherine is survived by her six children, Judith Ann (Francis) Hecker, Gladstone, Gayle Simnioniw, Bismarck, David J. (Karen) Rodakowski, Fairfield, Yvonne (Kenneth) Remmick, Bismarck, Stephanie (Steven) Yesel, Bismarck, and Arnold A. (Colleen) Rodakowski, Dickinson; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Grosulak, Inver Grove, MN, and Margie Krivoruchka, Dickinson; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great, great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and her brother, Sam Krivoruchka. Katherine was loved and will be missed by all!!
