Kathleen “Kathy” Praus, 71, Dickinson, died surrounded by her family on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at her home. Kathy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Bob Zent presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
Kathleen Frank was born on June 22, 1952 in Dickinson, the daughter of Ralph and Lydia (Schwindt) Frank. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, having graduated from Dickinson High School.
She started as a candy striper at the age of 16 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Dickinson. Kathy was united in marriage to David Praus on June 6, 1971 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. She worked as a nurses aid for 48 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital in the Med Surge and the Alcohol and Drug Unit. Her last few years of her career, she was a Ward Clerk. She also did home health care for 15 years.
Her greatest interest was caring for others. She enjoyed dancing, spending time with family, watching movies, eating popcorn, baking, canning and listening to music.
Kathy is survived by her husband, David; children, James (Tonya) Praus, Dickinson, John (DeAnna Keller) Praus, Dickinson, Jane (Jesse Martell) Praus, Williston, and Judy Dickens, Dickinson; grandchildren, Jade Praus, Sabrina Praus, Dalton Praus, Dillon Praus, Trey Praus, Thomas Christensen, Jason (Samantha Muncy) Lambert, Lillian Lambert, Cadence Lambert, Josephine Dickens, and Ethan Dickens; four great-grandchildren, Dmitri Praus, Ronan Praus, Lavinia Praus, and Bowe Christensen; her mother, Lydia Frank-Krebs, Dickinson; siblings, Floyd (Beth) Frank, Park Rapid, MN, Clarence (Yvonne) Frank, Dickinson, and Tim Frank, Minneapolis, MN.
She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Praus; her father, Ralph Frank; sister, Karla Frank; brother, Jeffery Frank; and step-father, Elmer Krebs.
