Kay Svihl-Haag, 62, Dickinson, died Sunday, April 11, 2021 at CHI St. Alexius Bismarck. There will be a Liturgy of Word Service for Kay at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding. Inurnment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with a time of sharing memories at 6 p.m.
Kay Ann Svihl was born March 14, 1959 in Dickinson, the daughter of Benjamin and Betty Jane (Pavlicek) Svihl. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1977. She was united in marriage to Ken Haag in July 1978 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, and to this union two children were born, Sarita and Kyle. They owned and operated Haag’s Meat Market for a period of time.
She went to work at the Stark County Court House, first in the Tax Department, later moving over to the Auditor’s Office. She attended Dickinson State University where she earned a BS Degree in Business Administration. Kay ran for and was elected as the Stark County Auditor, a position she served in for ten years prior to her retirement in October 2020.
She enjoyed gardening, canning, working in the flower beds, arts and crafts, cooking and hosting gatherings. She enjoyed time spent with her grandkids.
Kay is survived by her children, Sarita Haag, Dickinson, and Kyle (Kimmy) Haag, Bismarck; five grandchildren, McKenzie Haven, Zander Haven, Danika Honeywell, Maverick Haag and Nash Haag; her siblings, Gaylene Schulz, Dickinson, Dennis (Marla) Svihl, Dickinson, Randy Svihl, Dickinson, Greg (Bobbi) Svihl, Williston, Rocky Svihl, Surprise, Ariz., and Tammy (Jamie) Jalbert, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brother, Kelly; in-laws, Don Schulz and Genie Svihl; and niece, Sally Svihl.
