Surrounded by her family, Kay Werremeyer, 76, formerly of Dickinson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2015. In her words, she won her battle with cancer and has gone to live with her God and Jesus she loves so dearly. Kay’s funeral service will be on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at 3 p.m., at the Dickinson United Methodist Church, with Pastor Janel Kolar officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dickinson United Methodist Church. There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 7 p.m., Monday, September 7, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church, Fargo.

Kay’s life revolved around her family, traveling, volunteering, and participating in mission trips. Kay was a Professor of Elementary Education at Dickinson State University for 28 years, and was honored by the University with several recognitions and awards.

During their marriage, Kay and Fred enjoyed their careers at Dickinson State University and traveling around the country and world with their children.

After Fred’s death, Kay dedicated her life to her family, volunteering for various organizations, and participating in mission trips around the world. Kay truly enjoyed all her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Dorothy Kay Werremeyer is survived by her children Rick (Jean) Werremeyer, Pam (Steve) Hall, Bev Heyer, Mary (Mike) Towler, Brenda (Ron) Hendricks, and Wayne (Amy) Werremeyer; son-in-law, Kevin (Barb) Heyer; and grandchildren Gina Werremeyer, Eric (Kylie) Hall, Matthew, Rachel and Michael Hall, Kayla, Robert and Brady Heyer, Rebecca and Rollie Towler, Austin, Alex, Cameron and Tristin Hendricks and Truman, Malachi and Gus Werremeyer.

Kay was preceded in death by her husband Fred on November 4, 2000; her parents; and her siblings.
