Keith was born February 4, 1952 in Bainbridge, Maryland to L. DeWayne (Duddy) and Ruby Anderson. He grew up in Alexandria, Minnesota, where he claimed to walk barefoot and uphill both ways through two feet of snow to school everyday. He spent his summers on his Aunt Lois and Uncle Ronnie’s farm. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1970.
In the early-1970s, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. In 1974, he met the love of his life Susan Bartz, whom he married on April 5, 1975, in Hettinger. Keith and Sue were blessed with three children, Jonathan, Michael, and Mollie. He attended Dickinson State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Accounting. After obtaining his degree, he established Anderson Tax Service, which has been a part of the Dickinson and Hettinger communities ever since.
He was a member of the Lion’s Club, treasurer of Communication, Speech, and Theatre Association of North Dakota (CSTAND), treasurer of the North Dakota Roughrider NFL, and a member of the Richardton Zoning Board. He received the Service to the Profession award from CSTAND. Keith was the “walking encyclopedia” coach of the RTHS Student Congress team.
He loved fishing, watching and attending sports, especially the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, golf, puzzling at the lake, playing board games with his family, Pinochle, historical sites, providing wisdom to his children (or anyone who would listen), Consumer Reports, Rachel Maddow, MacGyver, NCIS, lutefisk, and lefse, supporting and encouraging anyone to follow their passions, and taking people on adventures for their first time. He was a curious, wise, giving man, who will be missed dearly by his family and friends, and his guidance and quick numerical mind will be missed by his clients.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; his sons Jonathan and his wife Kassondra, and Michael; and his daughter, Mollie; and three grand-daughters: Marie, Dakotah, and Dalilah. He also leaves his father Duddy Anderson and “other momma” Aunt Charlotte Hjelm; his siblings Bruce (Carol), Carol (Tim) DeLapp, Bob (Pat), Jeff (Peggy), Ron (Willie) Bartz, RJ (Kris) Bartz, Gae (Dennis) Zentner, and Sallie (Guy) Wilz; numerous nieces, nephews, and aunts and uncles; his longtime friend and colleague Judy Frederick and her husband Ron; his fishing buddies Molly, Gussy, Iver, Karl, Vince, Andy, Mike, and Al; his Viking buddies Richard, Jonas, and Aaron; his ice-throwing buddy Lonnie; and his “artist”, Kelly Stockie. He leaves behind numerous friends, hundreds of valued clients, and his beloved Minnesota Vikings in the hopes they win a Superbowl.
He was proceeded in death by his mother Ruby, his parents in-law Robert and Marilyn Bartz; his grandparents; his uncle Marvin; his nephews Christopher and Elijah; and close friend Dan “Crash” Lindquist.
