Kenneth E. Jurgens, 57, Dickinson, died Friday, January 31, 2014 as the result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident near South Heart. Ken’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Entombment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.
Ken Jurgens was born May 9, 1956 to Elmer and Martha (Cinder) Jurgens from Belfield, the youngest child of five children. He graduated from Belfield High School in 1974 and worked in several industries before establishing a career in oilfield operations. Most recently, he was the owner of KJ Services LLC, a consulting company for oilfield construction and utility locating.
On November 17, 1975, Ken married Peggy Filipi and they shared many blessed and loving years raising six children and five grandchildren. He was extremely proud of their children and enjoyed the many special family dinners and gatherings, watching his daughters grow into beautiful ladies, hunting with his sons, and playing and wrestling with his grandchildren. Throughout his career, Ken was admired for his strong work ethic, integrity, generosity, and craftsmanship. He was often found building and fixing around the house as well as helping his friends and family. Ken was always known to help someone in need.
Ken is survived by his loving wife, Peggy; six children: Nicholl Dinius, Dickinson, Brant (Shanon) Jurgens, San Antonio, Texas, Matt (Laine) Jurgens, Houston, Texas, Johnny Jurgens, San Antonio, Texas, Rachel Jurgens, Rogers, Minn., and Amanda (Zach) Stroh, Dickinson; five grandchildren; two brothers, David (Joan) Jurgens, Belfield, and Jim (Jean) Jurgens, Marysville, Wash.; and one sister: Karen (Jeff) Boshart, Charleston, Ill.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Martha Jurgens, and sister, Janice Miller.
