Kermit Nordsven, 95, formerly of Belfield, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at the Knife River Care Center, Beulah with family by his side. There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends with Sharing of Stories at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Interment will follow at Werner Cemetery.

Kermit Nordsven was born July 4, 1923 at Werner, the son of Andrew and Clara (Swenson) Nordsven. He was raised and educated near Werner. Following a period of time in Oklahoma and California, he returned to North Dakota and bought a farm south of Werner. He farmed there until 2002.

Kermit was united in marriage to Lucille Madson on November 5, 1953 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson and together they raised three daughters. Lucille died on May 24, 1993. In November 2002, Kermit married Cecilia Kostelecky at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Belfield. He resided in Belfield until the time of his death.

He loved drawing, reading up on astronomy, star gazing, collecting rocks and coins. He was also a member of the St. Anthony Club.

Kermit is survived by his wife, Cecilia Hurt, Dickinson; daughters, Colleen (Buckwheat) Wiest, Beulah, Verdeen (Les) Pietron, Riverton, Wyo. and Michelle (Gene) Gendron, Vulcan, Mich.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Elmer Nordsven, Killdeer. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille; twin sister, Cordella Reetz; brother, Alvin; and sister, Iola Bolster.
