Kevin Kohl, 42, formerly of New England died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at the Hospice House in Rapid City, S.D., following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kevin’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Basil Atwell, OSB as the celebrant. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m., Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a rosary and vigil at 7:30 p.m.

Kevin was born September 16, 1966 in Dickinson, N.D., to Joseph and Dorothy (Ebach) Kohl of New England, ND. Kevin grew up on the family farm and graduated from New England St. Mary’s High School in 1984. He joined the United States Air Force shortly after graduation and was stationed at Dyess AFB, Abilene, Texas. During his time at Dyess AFB, he met and married his wife Toni Tuerk on October 3, 1987. They moved to Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, S.D. in 1993 were Kevin remained until his retirement and honorable discharge from the Air Force in January of 2005. Shortly before Kevin’s retirement he went to work for Birdsall Sand and Gravel as a cement truck driver.

Kevin loved life; he enjoyed spending time with his wife, riding his motorcycle on the open road and going home every chance he got to help his brother on the family farm. Kevin will be dearly missed by all who loved and knew him.

Kevin is survived by his wife, Toni, Rapid City; one daughter, Leslie Pearce; one grandson, Anthony Miller; one granddaughter, Kaden Pearce all of Anson, Texas; his parents, Joseph and Dorothy Kohl, New England; one sister, Kim (Brian) Herold, New England; and two brothers, Allan Kohl, New England and Kelly (Mandi) Kohl, Lonsdale, Minn. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Mary Kohl, Joe and Caroline Ebach, and one brother, Joseph Kohl.
