Kimberly Kae Bubb was born February 19, 1958 in Grand Forks to Jim and Marcy Bubb. She was raised in Alvarado, MN and graduated as Salutatorian from Alvarado High School in 1976. Kim attended North Dakota State University in Fargo and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education with an emphasis in Family and Consumer Science. She completed her student teaching at Northwood Public School. In December of 1980, Kim moved to Dickinson. There she began a 35-year career as a Home Economics teacher at Hagen Jr. High. Students most remembered her class for sewing their first pillow, making gobble-d-goops, baking other goodies, and creating homemade pizzas. Kim retired from teaching May of 2014. She cherished the lifelong friendships she made while teaching.

In Dickinson, Kim met the love of her life, Calvin Kuhn. They married on July 23rd, 1988 and had three children:  Jessica, Jocelyn, and Tyler. Calvin and Kim did a lot in their 35 years of marriage—taking on multiple home projects around Dickinson, supporting their three kids, visiting with friends, and making time to get away. They really enjoyed traveling together and they always found time to visit family or friends along the way. They experienced multiple trips abroad and many adventures throughout the United States. Kim was always game for a spontaneous road-trip. She was also the inspiration (planning) for many family vacations. Kim enjoyed playing board and card games with family (especially pinochle). She belonged to a weekly Bridge club for many years, and she also took pleasure in reading, cross stitching, and completing her daily crosswords.

Kim will be most remembered for how she treated others. In her gentle, caring way, she gave her undivided attention to getting to know you. She made everyone around her feel important and loved. With a contagious laugh and witty sense of humor, she was someone with whom you wanted to spend time. She always made you feel warm and welcome.

Kim appreciated the time spent with her nieces and nephews, often taking them to the farm. She referred to them as her “peeps.” She would spend many hours playing cards with them and taught more than one of them how to ride a bike. Kim loved treating her grandchildren to ice cream treats whenever possible.

Kim is survived by her husband, Calvin Kuhn, Dickinson; daughters, Jessica (Kevin) Bosworth, McKenzie, and Jocelyn (Brandon) Zent, Wesley Chapel, FL; son, Tyler Kuhn, Cody, WY; grandchildren, Callie, Brooklyn, Kylin, Beau, and Bria Zent; sisters, Kandy (Steve) Diamond, Akron, CO and Andrea (Marshal) Albright, Fargo; and brothers, Tim (Valerie) Ritland, Moorhead, MN, and Mike (Cathy) Bubb, Alvarado, MN. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Martin, and Maggie Kuhn; sister-in-law, Glenda Kuhn; grandparents, Matt and Molly Bubb, Pauli, and Alma Olstad; and many aunts and uncles.
