Lane Marshall Schatz, 10, Tonopah, Ariz., died Friday, October 23, 2009 in Phoenix, Ariz., as the result of a sudden illness. Lane’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church, New England with Rev. Bruce Peterson officiating and Deacon Roger Heidt. Interment will follow at St. Pius Cemetery, Schefield. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., Sunday. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Lane Marshall Schatz was born January 6, 1999, at Huron, S.D., the son of Tate and Jill (Dukart) Schatz. The family lived in Miller, S.D. until Lane was six years old, at which time they moved to Tonopah, Ariz. Lane was currently attending the fourth grade at Winters-Well Elementary School.

Lane was a fun loving energetic boy who loved spending time with his friends. He was active quading (4-wheeling), riding horse, and other outdoor activities such as going shooting and swimming. When you met Lane you were taken in by his heart warming smile, his big warm eyes, and those dimples.

Lane will be missed by all that knew him. His survivors are his parents, Tate and Jill Schatz; his sister, Melissa; grandparents, Thomas and Donna Dukart, Dickinson, and Dale and Marguerite “Muggsy” Schatz, New England; great-grandmother, Arline (Sheldon) Lish-Spidell, Missouri City, Texas; aunts and uncles, Tim and Beth Williams, Tiffany and Boyd Meduna, JoeLynn and Bill Wiese, Jessica and Brian Bell, and Jeremiah “JJ” and Julie Dukart; and numerous great-aunts and uncles, and cousins. Lane was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, John R. and Eva Dukart, Frank X. and Mary Berger, Frank D. Lish, and Richard D. and Mary Schatz.
