Larry E. Turner, 77, Gladstone died Friday, March 6, 2009 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. A memorial service for Larry will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Michael Wolters officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Inurnment will take place in Douglas, Wyo. later this year.
Larry was born January 4, 1932 at Douglas, Wyo., the son of Floyd and Beryl (Hornbeck) Turner. He was raised and educated in Douglas. Larry served honorably as a radioman in the United States Navy for four years. He continued with his education at CSU in Fort Collins, Colo. working towards a degree in Veterinary Science.
Larry returned to the Douglas area in Converse County to ranch. Larry met and married Yvonne M. Rosberg on March 18, 1977 and became a father to her family.
Larry enjoyed art, especially pencil drawings, gardening and baking bread. He belonged to the American Legion, enjoyed traveling, spending time at the cabin in Downey Park, Wyo. and hunting for arrowheads.
Larry is survived by three children, Melanie (J.T.) Tait, Hardesty, Okla., Rory (Bridget) Holmes, Thermopolis, Wyo., and Drew (Kristine) Holmes, Avon, Ind.; eight grandchildren, Brian, Jenalee, Sibyl, Amanda, Derek, Tyler, Nathan and Josalyn; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne on April 17, 2006; his parents; two sisters, Edna Stevens and Eva Cook; and one son, Ted Holmes.
