Laura C. Fields, 83, formerly of Dickinson, ND, died Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at New Hope, Minn.. Laura’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Visitation will continue from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Laura C. Wittenberg was born May 31, 1925 at Hazen, ND, the daughter of Abraham and Catherine (Barthel) Wittenberg. Following graduation from high school she attended the St. Alexius School of Nursing for Cadet Nurses.

Laura married John E. Fields on July 8, 1946 and this union was blest with 11 children. Laura worked for 38 years at St. Joseph’s Hospital and for five years for Dr. Dewey. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters. Laura loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed working on crafts, gardening, playing bingo and singing.

Laura is survived by nine children, Richard (LouAnn), Janice (Terrance) Binstock, Randolph, Jeffrey (Eva), Renee (Rodney) Braun, Joanne (Arnold) Davenport, Robert (Patricia), Jean (Calvin) Hofer and Jay (Donna); her sisters, Annabelle Grainey, Erna Brucker, Katherine Oster, Minnie Webb and Ruby Graham; 25 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two sons, John “Larry”, and Rodney; grandsons, Joshua Fields and Adam Binstock; great-granddaughter, Katherine Fields; and two brothers, Ted and Leo Wittenberg. Memorials are preferred to the St. Therese Residence at 8000 Bass Lake Road, New Hope, MN 55428.
