Laura Gustafson, 91, Dickinson, died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Richardton Health Center, Richardton. Laura’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, August 27, 2010 at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Lisa Lewton officiating. Interment will follow at the Taylor Cemetery, Taylor. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., on Friday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Laura Elizabeth Fuchs was born June 12, 1919 in Richardton, the daughter of Samuel and Magdalene (Walth) Fuchs. She was raised and educated on the family farm near Richardton.

Laura married Elmer Gustafson on December 30, 1939 in Glendive, Mont., and they lived in the Marshall area until 1957, and then in the Almont area until 1965 when they moved into Dickinson. While in Dickinson, Laura worked at White Drug for numerous years.

Laura was an avid bowler and had been inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed playing Bridge and belonging to various clubs, having served on several church committees, and was past president of District Homemakers, and was also a 4-H leader. She enjoyed sewing, Rosemaling, gardening and baking.

Laura is survived by seven children, Jackie Walker, Bismarck, Patty (Bud) Olson, Dickinson, Sharon Anner, Colorado Springs, Colo., Roger Gustafson, Dickinson, Judy Handegard, Almont, Nancy (Dave) Dvorak, West Fargo, and Candy (Stu) Olson, Phoenix, Ariz.; sons-in-law, Gene Peterson, Almont and Buck Zempel, Fort Lincoln; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; step-sister, Ruby Converse; sister-in-law, Hulda Fuchs; and brothers-in-law, Don Huber and Al Kuschel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer on November 4, 2009; her parents; four children, Bruce, Doanld, Bonnie and Ginger; sons-in-law, Jack Walker, DuWayne Anner and Idar Handegard; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Gustafson; sister, Charlene Huber; brothers, Arnold, Norman and Eugene; step-sister, Charlotte Kuschel; and step-brother, Werner Benfit.
