LaVonne M. Schmidt, 79, Richardton, died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson with her family at her side. Lavonne’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, June 16, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton, with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a rosary & vigil at 6:30 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

LaVonne Marie Schmidt was born March 21, 1938 to Charles and Louise (Hammerschmidt) Schmidt in Richardton. She attended St. Mary’s Grade School, graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1957 and attended Dickinson State College.

She worked at the Assumption Abbey High School, Assumption College and the Farmers State Bank, retiring from Bremer Bank in 1988.

She was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Parish and her faith was an integral part of her life. She had a love for chocolate, never missed a family birthday with an acknowledgement of a card or phone call. She carried on the family tradition of hosting Christmas dinners, where gifts were plentiful for all. LaVonne was an avid reader and bird watcher. Family was the highlight of her life and she looked forward to their visits. She enjoyed tending to her flowers, had a passion for the color red and always had time to spend sharing fairytales with her nieces and nephews.

LaVonne is survived by her sisters, Frieda (Ralph)Boespflug, Dickinson and Gloria (Robert) Schmalenberger, Hebron; nieces and nephews, Pamela Aman, Perry (Annette) Boespflug, Julie (Callen) Hoff, Wendi (Kent) Glass, Robyn (Jim Becker)Schmalenberger, Jason (Stacy) Schmalenberger, Danielle (Bob) Tuttle, Garrett (Sara) Schmidt and Jill (Robert) Nixon; great-nieces and nephews, Lacey Aman, Jesse Aman, Tyler (Samantha) Boespflug, Cole (Kayla) Boespflug, Kayla (Tim) Luchini, Crista Collins, Casey (Candace) Hoff, Kash Glass, Landree Glass, Zachary Schmalenberger, Zayden Schmalenberger, Carson Tuttle, Emily Tuttle, Megan Tuttle, Aaron Tuttle, Hannah Schmidt, Nathan Schmidt, Charlotte Schmidt, Abigail Wolcott, Miles Wolcott, Kristy Nixon and Jake Nixon; great-great nieces and nephews, Ely Aman, Sophie Boespflug and Nova Tuttle; and sister-in-law Bonnie Schmidt.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Louise and Charles; brother, Charles L. Schmidt; and niece Janell Schmalenberger.
