Visitation will be on Sunday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Lawrence Alton Alexenko was born October 25, 1934 at home west of Killdeer, the son of Procher “Prince” and Tannie “Tena” (Dobrovolsky) Alexenko. Following the death of his dad, Lawrence moved to Grafton, where he resided from June 1939 to December 1985. In 1985 he began his life with ABLE; first living in Dickinson, then Bowman, before returning to Dickinson in April 1995.

Through the supports of ABLE, Lawrence participated in bowling, with Special Olympics, fishing, growing flowers, making cat and dog treats for the Dickinson animal shelter, shredding for THS, and many social outings. He also enjoyed watching funny movies, nature movies, and the Wheel-of-Fortune, while enjoying a Diet Coke and some chewing gum. But most of all, Lawrence enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He looked forward to the stories and the laughter, accompanied by a cup of coffee and a dessert. Lawrence’s smile will always be remembered.

Lawrence is survived by four siblings, Ruth (Fred) Eschenko, Alma Tachenko, Rose Eschenko, and Ray (Deanna) Alexenko; brother-in-law, Jake Haider; numerous nieces and nephews; and his wonderful caregivers and fellow housemates. He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Della Spence Haider and Elaine Jablonsky; and seven half-siblings, Steven Alexenko, Matt Alexenko, Katie Hurinenko Stubbs, Elsie Boyko, Stacia Merickle, Ann Boyko, and Agnes Moseanko.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the ABLE, Inc. or to Special Olympics.
