Lawrence J. “Larry” Heiser, 64, Dickinson, died Thursday, December 24, 2009 at MedCenter One, Bismarck. Larry’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 2, 2010 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding. Flag presentation will take place following the service and provided for by members of the Dickinson Honors Team. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to service time on Saturday.

Larry was born February 14, 1945 at Fargo, the son of Constine and Mary (Hendricks) Heiser. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School. Larry joined the United States Army and served honorably for a period of 10 years. During this time he had spent three tours in Viet Nam.

Larry returned from the military and had spent several years in Colorado Springs, Colo., where he enjoyed working maintenance, carpentry and woodworking. He returned to Dickinson and on December 21, 2000 was united in marriage to Rita (Freitag) Kuntz.

Larry enjoyed fishing and hunting, bowling, playing golf and going camping. He also was an avid Vikings and Twins fan. Larry had also spent some time singing in a band.

Larry is survived by his wife, Rita; four children, Starlet (Gary) Millar, Colo., Angel (Victor) Washington, Germany, Carrie (Eddy) Vigil, Colo., and Stephen Heiser, Colo.; two step-children, Angie (James) Wasson, Colo., and Duane (Connie) Schram, Colo.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Miles Freitag, Ind.; nieces and nephews, Lauren, Mark and Angelica; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Larry.
