Leo Fichter, 77, Dickinson, died Saturday, July 22, 2023 at St. Lukes Home, Dickinson. Leo’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 29, 2023 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Robert Shea as the celebrant. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on hour prior to the service at the church.
Leo Fichter was born September 4, 1945 the son of John and Eva (Kuntz) Fichter. He was raised on a farm northwest of Gladstone where he attended country school for eight years. He went to Campus High in Dickinson, and following his graduation he attended NDSSS at Wahpeton, learning the electrical trade. Leo went to work as an Apprentice and then Journeyman Electrician for B&K Electric for many years. He then spent some time at Dickinson Electric before going to Berger Electric where he spent the rest of his career.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, canning, and yardwork. Leo traveled to many places, such as, Israel, Iceland and Alaska several times.
Leo is survived by his children, LeJ (Randy) Briscoe, Jonathan (Michelle) Jenson and Nancy (Mont Snell) Hellman; grandchildren, Whitney (Stephan) Friedt, Jacob Luptak, Sierra (Eric) Heppler, Savannah (Curtis) Price, and Joshua (Kalinda) Wilson; several great-grandchildren; children from his marriage to Connie Kadrmas: Elizabeth (Ryan) Olheiser, and Rachel (Adam) Gillen; grandchildren, Trent, Taelen, Madison, and Grant; his siblings, Tony Fichter, Richard (Dorothy) Fichter, Henry (Terri) Fichter, and Thersia Hipsak; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his infant son, Michael; grandchildren, Ethan and Emmitt Olheiser; parents; step-mother, Maggie; sister, Mary (George) Olheiser; niece, Judy Quigley; nephew, James Fichter; brother-in-law, Nick Hipsak; and sisters-in-law, Appy and Pauline Fichter.
