Leona Louise Olson was born May 19, 1921 in Blue Hill Township near Becker, Minn., daughter of Olaf and Mary (Ellefson) Olson. She attended Kragero Country School and graduated from Becker High School in June 1940. After graduating, she was employed in the Minneapolis area, working various jobs. She married Anton Kadrmas in Lebanon, Mo., June 19, 1942. They made their home west of Manning where they farmed for 47 years. She was a hardworking farmers wife, tending to garden, milking cows and other outdoor chores, while keeping up a wonderful inviting home. Visitors were welcomed with a delicious meal, dessert was always included. There was the wonderful smell of caramel rolls or something she baked as you came in the door after school-served with a big smile and hugs.

She worked as Deputy Clerk of Court for Dunn County. Leona moved to Dickinson in 1982 after Tony’s death. She enjoyed her time baking, gardening, quilting, embroidering and playing bridge and other card games with friends. She gave her time volunteering at St. Benedict’s Health Center and Hospital Auxiliary.

Leona will be missed dearly by her children, Idonna (Donald) Hunter, Big Lake, Minn., Melvin Kadrmas, Dickinson, Kayleen (Roger) Helbling, West Linn, Ore., Elvis (Lori) Kadrmas, Horace and Arlis (Crystal) Kadrmas, Wichita, Kan.; nine grandchildren, Dawn, Brian, Jennifer, Jacob, Emerson, Cora, Kate, Isaiah and Isabella; 13 great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Jennifer, Brittany, Johan, Thea, Oliver, Magdalen, Michael, Caleb, Benjamin, Gianna, Shayly and Makayla; brother, Clarence Olson; sisters, Ethel Lindquist and Arlene Johnson; numerous nieces and nephews and many kind loving friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Anton on January 9, 1980; brothers, Murlin, Marvin, Dwight and Lester and sisters, Harriet and Audrey. In lieu of flowers, consider a gift to Hillside Baptist Church Awana.
