Leona Stroh, 93, Killdeer, passed away on Monday, April 11, 2022 at Hill Top Home of Comfort, Killdeer. Leona’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer, with Fr. Joseph Evinger as the celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson and will continue at the church from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Dan Tuhy presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church on Wednesday.

Leona Marie Mack was born October 21, 1928. She was the youngest of eight children born to Michael and Margaret (Ehrmantraut) Mack.

Leona received her first through eighth grade education at St. Joseph’s Catholic school in Dickinson. She was unable to continue her education due to her father passing away when she was eleven years old. She had to get a job to help support her and her mother.

Leona met Anton “Tony” Stroh at a wedding dance and the love flourished. They were married on November 16, 1950. They ended up in a car accident after the wedding due to icy streets. The car was totaled but luckily no one was hurt.

Leona was a city girl but she quickly learned the ways of being a farmer/ rancher’s wife. For decades she raised a large garden. She loved flowers and took great pride in her flower beds. She loved dancing the waltz, her and Tony especially enjoyed dancing to Ernie Hecker and Tony Weber band. She also was a big Lawrence Welk fan. Leona enjoyed playing whist with friends and family.

Leona was a very loving, caring, and kind lady. She loved her family and husband dearly. She was very faithful and religion was extremely important to her. She was a devout Catholic. She was a life long member of St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer, as well as the Alter Society.

Leona is survived by her six children: Roberta (Wayne) Schmitz, Elgin, Dave (Debb) Stroh, Killdeer, Jackie (Gary Haughian) Stroh, Terry, MT, Neil (Alfie) Stroh, Sandy, OR, Mike (Dawn) Stroh, Killdeer, Kelly (Mike) Weidner, Kindred; 13 grandchildren:  Sheldon (Cody) Schmitz, Shawn (Heather) Schmitz, Tara (Bob) Schmitz-Watson, Josh Stroh, Jill Stroh, Jodi Stroh, Garrett (Olivia) Lamach, Krystle Lamach, Kayleen Stroh, Jesse (Mariah Walker) Stroh, Lucas Stroh, Matt Stroh, and Brandon (Samantha Blattenbauer) Weidner; 11 great-grand-children: Hannah, Brittney, Jaden, Brennan, Abigail, Faye Ann, McKenna, Myra, Kenyatta, Madison, and Leona.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony on May 27, 2021; her parents, Michael and Margaret; siblings: Frank, Madge, Adam, Polly, Anthony, and two infant brothers both named Leo.
