LeRoy Everett McCutchan, 73, loving son, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away at his home on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. There will be a private family service at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be a time of visitation on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service.
LeRoy was born in Portland, Ore., on November 3, 1946, to Edna (Thompson) and George McCutchan. At a very young age he developed a love of the outdoors. He loved fishing, camping, and hunting with his father. In his teenage years, LeRoy played city league baseball, had a love for the game of golf and a passion for motorcycles, cars and all things mechanical. At the age of 17, He became the youngest parts manager for Burnett Chevrolet in Portland, Ore.
While living in Portland, LeRoy met his first wife Caroline. To their union were born two children; a daughter Christina, and a son who died in infancy. After their divorce, he met and later married Clara Messer while she was living in Portland. To this union were born five children; Lee, Valerie, Amanda, Erin, and Alicia. In 1978, a motorcycle accident and resulting traumatic brain injury left LeRoy unable to continue working. A long road to recovery meant relocating the family to the Messer family farm in Richardton, ND in 1980. Although LeRoy and Clara divorced in the early 90’s; they remained on good terms throughout the years, and shared holidays together with their children and grandchildren.
LeRoy was an avid bowler, and participated on several leagues. He enjoyed daily lunches with his friends at the local diner in Richardton and Hebron. His greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family and his numerous grandchildren.
LeRoy is survived by his children, Christina Holmes, Lee (Christine) McCutchan, Valerie (Kenneth) Martin, Amanda (Craig) Fisher, Erin McCutchan, and Alicia (Edmundo) Mesa; grandchildren, Rebecca Jones, Steven, Tamra and Frankie Holmes, Kennedy, Mason and Carter McCutchan, Doyne, Mackenzie and Graham Martin, Trystan, Joel, Brenna and Crystal Fisher, Kody, Katelynn, Kylie and Kasey Bullinger, Anna and Alan Mesa; step-grandchildren, Itzy, Edmundo, Jr., and Vivian Meza; five great-grandchildren, Nixie Horner, Gabby, Azella, Ayla and Ahri Holmes; and sisters, Alice (David) Isakson and Michele Haynes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Henry “Bob” Jacobs; an infant son; and an infant grandson, Aiden Mesa.
