Lloyd was born February 9, 1935 to John and Martha (Werth) Nantt and grew up in Hebron. He worked at the Hebron Brick Factory for several years before joining the Minor Baseball League. He played for Dickinson before returning to Hebron and the Brick Factory. He married the love of his life, Luella Rockstad in Hebron on February 23, 1963 and they made their home in Werner, before purchasing Dunn Center Grain in Dunn Center where they raised their first 4 children. While there, Lloyd was also busy with the Dunn Center City Council, the City Zoning Commission, and the Volunteer Fire Department. They moved to Wahpeton in 1987, where Lloyd Rae was born the following year. In 1995 they moved back to Dickinson, where they raised Lloyd R. and happily spent time with their grandbabies. Lloyd and Luella moved to Wishek in 2012 and then to Bismarck in 2014, where his beautiful bride took care of him until his death.
Lloyd’s children and grandchildren were his pride and joy, and he spent many hours teaching them how to hunt, fish, and garden. Lloyd was a wonderful cook and shared his love and expertise with his children. He also taught them how to make a family favorite, the best homemade sausage and bratwurst in the area. He shared his love of bowling with them and spent as much time as he could traveling to bowling tournaments around the country. Lloyd was a member of the Eagles Club, St. Anthony Club, and the German Hungarian.
We would like to extend a special thank you to St. Alexius Hospice nurses and volunteers in Bismarck for their loving care and support. Thank you to Dr. Dendy for all of his care for Lloyd over the years. Also thank you to Ladbury Funeral Service for all of the arrangements.
